It was inappropriate.
Russell Brand was a guest on Sunday Brunch on Channel 4 this morning. Simon Rimmer, one of the presenters, is currently competing in Strictly Come Dancing, which was brought up on the show.
Russell decided to crack a joke about Simon’s co-presenter, Tim Lovejoy, during the conversation and it went down like a lead balloon.
He joked about why Tim visits the Strictly set, insinuating he only goes there to hit on the dancers who are ‘drunk enough’.
According to Metro, he said:
“You’re around there every week, aren’t you Lovejoy? What’s your motivation on a Saturday at Elstree, lurking around the dancers? “I better come, gotta support Simon!”… Stick around, eventually someone will be drunk enough.”
His comments did not go down well with viewers, especially in the wake of all the Weinstein allegations.
Given the current climate and always, a very poor ‘eventually someone will be drunk enough’ comment from #russellbrand #SundayBrunch #notok

Russell Brand is so not funny. Vulgar and childlike, I thought better of #SundayBrunch
