When the January blues kick in there is nothing we want to do more than hop on a plane and see the world and according to a recent survey by Skyscanner – one of the worlds biggest search engines for flights, right now in January is the cheapest time for the whole year.
Their data – based on searches from more than 60 million monthly users, suggests that right now in January will offer the best prices on flights taken in the first half of the year. The search engine expects that flight prices will rise from 13 to 50 percent by March depending on demand.
The information given to Travel + Leisure finds that this pattern is consistent with trends every year as flight prices reduce to help peoples wallet after Christmas and beat the slump post Christmas.
But if you are finding that flights are just seriously not something you can afford this month- fear not as there are other ways to still fly for cheap. By setting up Google Flights, you can track certain flights and find out when it’s cheapest to head away by getting an alert when prices are down straight to your phone.
