Why Prince George doesn’t want to play with little sister Princess Charlotte as much

Keeley Ryan

Prince George has had a busy year for a 5-year-old.

The future King started a new school, became a big brother (again) and had a fairly big role in his uncle Prince Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle in May.

But it looks like the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s eldest child is really coming into his own – and, though he loves his siblings, isn’t as keen on playing with them anymore.

A source told PEOPLE magazine that Prince George is “very independent now” – so he is “not as interested in playing with Charlotte all the time”.

However, as the source insists, it’s not like it’s anything personal.

They added:

“They are close, but George likes to go off and do this own thing.”

The little of the royal family has been showing a shyer side during recent outings, including hiding behind his dad, Prince William, at the royal wedding and keeping his head down during a visit to the hospital to meet baby brother, Prince Louis.

The insider insists that once George gets to know someone, though, he’s actually “very chatty and charming.”

They said:

“George takes a little while to warm up, but once he’s comfortable with you, he’s very chatty and charming.”
