Woman shares poignant video for baby she gave up for adoption

A teenage mum has shared a video she made for the son she placed for adoption.

Hannah Mongie from Utah found out she was expecting a baby at the age of 18. After her boyfriend Kaden died unexpectedly in his sleep during her pregnancy, she made the difficult decision to give up the baby.

She gave birth to a boy she named Taggart in March of 2016 and spent a number of days with him before he was adopted into a family, according to local news station KTVU.

Almost two years after she said goodbye to Taggart, a video she made for him is going viral.

It’s a nine-minute clip of Hannah talking to Taggart as a newborn, explaining to him why she couldn’t look after him herself – and it’s guaranteed to make you feel teary.

In it, she explains that giving up her baby is tough as he’s her “last piece of Kaden” but that “one day I woke up and I just knew you were supposed to be with someone else.”

Sharing the video on the Love What Matters page on Facebook, Hannah said she wanted to change how people who give up their babies are seen.

“I hope anyone who watches this will be able to gain a new perspective on what the birth mom goes through, when she places her child for adoption.

“It is the FURTHEST thing from a heartless act. It shows the definition of love. To love someone this much, is to give away your happiness for them.”

The adoption was an open one, she continued, meanings gets to see Taggart “all the time.”
