Ah, lads.
When it comes to soaps, you can’t really get annoyed at characters for getting things a bit wrong the odd time.
After all, writers have got about 27 episodes to write every week, they don’t have time for facts a lot of the time, to be honest.
Still though, you’d think when there’s a particularly harrowing and serious scene happening, you’d be able to watch it without being distracted by the fact that there’s a glaringly obvious mistake occurring.
Or not like, whatever, who are we to judge?
During last night’s Corrie though, there was a bit of a police-based error that some fans just couldn’t overlook. How tragic for them.
While Sally was off getting grilled about her supposed involvement in a charity scam, police in Weatherfield decided to go ahead and present a bit of evidence that apparently proved her involvement.
They said the following:
“We’ve got evidence that two pay-as you-go mobile phones were delivered to the council office address. Two secret phones to conduct your affair. These all came from Duncan’s phone.”
Right, cool… except, how are police meant to prove these phones had anything to do with Sally at all? They can’t, really.
Shame.
“A bit unrealistic,” said one person. “Surely they have to prove that Sally has that phone and number?”
“So that phone has no connection to Sally yet they’re still convinced it belongs to her??” said another.
Yes lads, they are.
Because this is Coronation Street and the realm of the impossible is open for all to enjoy… and be intensely critical of.
This came after Sally was arrested for fraud earlier on in the episode while dressed as a clown.
Irony.
