Daddy Cool, five of our favourite Irish Insta-dads to follow on social media

Melissa Carton

Father’s Day is only around the corner so what better way to celebrate than to give props to some of our well known Insta-dads.

From sports stars to dad bloggers and tv personalities, Irish dads know how to have the craic so who better to follow on social media.

There are many amazing Irish dads but as we can’t fit them all into one post, here are five of our personal favourites.

Brian O’Driscoll

One-half of Ireland’s most beloved couples, it would be hard to find someone who isn’t a fan of Brian O Driscoll.

Now a dad of two, Sadie and Billy, BOD is well known for his charity work and public speaking, as well as being Leinster’s former rugby captain.

With over 263,000 followers on Instagram BOD keeps it real with plenty of snapshots into his life with wife Amy Huberman. He is also well versed in the use of a good Boomerang which is always appreciated.

Baz Ashmawy

Best known for TV show 50 Ways To Kill Your Mammy, Baz describes himself as a TV & radio presenter/producer and struggling dad.

Probably one of the most relatable Instagram accounts, Baz shows us his life is not all glitzy award shows. Between a lost child in the zoo, his hatred of LOL dolls and being sick and tired of making packed lunches, I think most parents watching will say “been there”.

His mum Nancy also makes regular appearances so we get the full cross-generational package.

Timi Ogunyemi

If there was an award for most stylish Irish dad, it would go to Timi Ogunyemi hands down.

As Timi says himself he was born in Lagos but made in Dublin, and is one of Ireland’s best known social media personalities.

The dad of one fills his Instagram with fun funky fashion on his travels around the country with his family.

I think he can safely say ‘he’s not a regular dad, he’s a cool dad’.

Chris O’Dowd

The tag ‘Hungover at a kids birthday party’, reminds me of the time I ran into Chris on a night out and asked for a photo. Both of us look hungover at a kids party and that photo will never see the light of day.

Married to TV presenter Dawn Porter in 2012, the pair are parents to sons, Art and Valentine.

Originally from the tiny town of Boyle in County Roscommon, O’Dowd now soaks up the rays in sunny in Los Angeles and we’re totally not jealous.

Benny Finlay

One of Ireland’s biggest parenting bloggers, one trip over to Daddy Poppins Instagram account and it’s easy to see why.

After quitting his job in 2016 to raise his two children, Benny Finlay set up his blog to show what it’s like to be a stay at home father in Ireland.

You’re sure to get a good laugh from one of his many videos as he documents the trials, tribulations and many episodes of Paw Patrol that come with being a modern-day parent.
