EastEnders fans annoyed by repeated New Year’s Day storyline

Jade Hayden

Sorry, is this an episode of The Walking Dead or a popular BBC soap?

You’d almost be forgiven for confusing the two considering people just keep rising from the dead and causing serious amounts of hassle.

Hey, both series also reuse storylines a lot too and annoy their audiences by doing so.

They really do have a lot in common.

Last night, however, viewers were having absolutely none of the Albert Square show as Mel came back to life… just like Alfie did only a few nights ago on Christmas Day.

Mel was strangled with her wedding veil by Ray last night (spoilers), leaving audiences to assume that she had died.

However, her lifeless body arose from the dead soon after, just like Alfie’s had a mere week ago when he was faking his death to steal his daughter.

Lazy plot devices, you say?

Well, that’s what the people watching thought anyway.

Here’s a load of vaguely pissed off tweets about the whole scenario.

Grim enough sitch, in fairness.

This comes only a solid day after EastEnders viewers were pissed off that Lorna Fitzgerald, who plays Abi, didn’t feature in the end credits.

However, this is probably due to the fact that her character is in a coma and doesn’t have any lines.

Still though.
