A girl who shaved her head to raise money for a cancer charity has been “put in isolation” by her school.
Niamh Baldwin recently shaved her head to raise money for a UK charity that makes wigs for cancer patients.
Since then, the 14-year-old has been put in isolation and forbidden from mixing with her friends at school.
Niamh’s mother, Anneka, has accused her daughter’s school of “discrimination” and condemned them for making Niamh feel “low.”
In a lengthy Facebook post, she wrote:
“Niamh recently shaved all of her hair off to donate to a children’s wig charity.
“I think this is the most courageous and amazing thing to do and makes me so proud, that’s why I am so upset that the school has made her feel so low and put her in to isolation because her hair needs to be 1cm longer to be able to join in with classes and be allowed to see her peers in the playground.”
Anneka went on to say that daughter regularly receives positive feedback and report cards in school and that she is a well-likely “lovely girl.”
“This doesn’t change because of a hairstyle and to me it is discrimination.
“I’m actually fuming! I’m so proud of you Niamh as our all your family and friends, you’re amazing and don’t let anyone ever let you feel less than that.”
Niamh has since received much praise online for her decision to shave her head.
