Warning: the content of this story may be distressing for some.

A grieving mum has explained why she chose to share photos of her stillborn baby on social media.

Yasmine Indiaa gave birth to Jeremiah Kai Hillman last month, however, due to a birth defect called gastroschisis, Jeremiah could not survive outside of the womb.

Following her son’s passing, Yasmine took to Instagram to share a photo of her and her baby.

She wrote: “Mommy was so ready to spoil and raise you. God had other plans for you my king. I love you so much.”

Jeremiah’s godmother then set up a GoFundMe page in order to raise money to pay for the baby’s funeral costs.

Another photo of Jasmine holding Jeremiah was included, which Jasmine also shared on her Instagram page.

Eventually raising over $7,000, Jasmine was able to give her baby the send off he deserved.

However, that wasn’t before she was criticised for sharing photos of her stillborn baby on social media.

“Why post to Instagram tho?” wrote one person.

“Why would you share this, no one wants to see that,” said another.

Another mum wrote that the photo may have been upsetting to those who had also lost children and that Jasmine should have considered that.

This person wrote: “How do you think a parent feels that they have to see their baby dead and deal with it??? People who lose their babies don’t ask for that.”

Jasmine responded to the criticism saying that she shared her story “because my son was a blessing to me.”

She wrote:

“I shared my story for y’all to realise and appreciate what you have because you never ever know when God will pluck your precious flower from you.

“I gave birth to an angel and my son doesn’t have to go through this sinful earth and negative shit.”

Jasmine also added that she thought her baby “deserved to be shown off” by his mother “just like a baby who was living.”

Jasmine was blocked from posting on her Instagram page for one week.

The mum has said that she is “recovering slowly” and that she doesn’t want anyone to be “sad for me.”
