A popular blogger mum has spoken out about her sexual assault.

Constance Hall said that she felt “too ashamed” to do or say anything about her experience when it happened many years ago.

The mum said that once, she woke up “to a man having sex with me.”

She wrote:

“In my day of having casual sex a lot of misconduct/rape was overlooked.

“I remember waking up to a man having sex with me, too ashamed over how much I had drank and not being able to remember how we ended up in bed, I didn’t tell anyone.

“Gathered my things, even thanked him for a fun night and ran.”

Constance went on to say that years ago, the issue of consent wasn’t talked about.

However, she believes that it is now “much needed.”

She said:

“A lot of this comes down to respect.

“We need to teach our children to only embark on a sexual encounter with someone they respect. Respect their body, their wishes, respect them.”

Constance’s story comes after the prominence of the #MeToo movement, which saw hundreds of women speak openly about their sexual assault and harassment experiences.

The mum’s post received much praise online, with people thanking her for her honesty.

They also agreed that respect, casual sex, and consent are all things that should be openly discussed with children as they grow up.
