It was a day of goodbyes at Kensington Palace.

After five years as Prince Harry’s private secretary and right-hand man, Ed Lane has called it a day. Saying their final farewell, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle met with Ed to thank him for his work and wish him luck for the future.

Ed’s resignation was announced in April, with a palace spokesperson saying:

“His Royal Highness is hugely grateful to Ed for his hard work during a period that has seen the launch and growth of the Invictus Games, countless tours around the world, and the detailed planning for next month’s wedding.”

Continuing they said:

“Ed has led the creation of Prince Harry’s private office and the development of His Royal Highness’s work across a range of issues since leaving the Armed Forces. He has worked tirelessly, providing valued advice to Prince Harry and leadership of a growing team.”

According to Hello!, Ed is resigning to spend more time with his family and will be greatly missed by all in the palace. In the meantime, it is believed that the Queen’s assistant private secretary, Samantha Cohen will be taking up the full-time role and travelling to Australia with the royal pair.

The details of Harry and Meghan’s first official royal tour have been released, and we have them.

Their Royal Highnesses have been invited to visit Australia and New Zealand by the countries’ respective governments. The whole tour is two weeks long and you can check it all out here.
