Aldi’s latest Christmas ad sees Kevin the Carrot fight off the Leafy Blinders

Jade Hayden

Get it? Instead of Peaky Blinders? You get it.

It’s that time of year again, folks.

The time where it’s freezing cold, everybody’s sad, and the entirely over-hyped season that is Christmas slowly, painfully descends upon us.

It doesn’t have to be all doom and gloom though – because there’s a carrot named Kevin who’s back in our lives, bringing joy, fun, and vegetable-based fun to all the family.

Kevin has been delighting audiences for the past few years now, but this time around, he’s also frightening them too as he gets kidnapped by a selection of Brussels sprouts known as the Leafy Binders.

Get it? You get it.

The extended Aldi ad – coming in at an impressive 70 seconds – sees Kevin kidnapped by Russell Sprout, as the villain attempts to claim the title of favourite Christmas vegetable.

Eventually, Kevin escapes and performs a rendition of Robbie Williams’ ‘Let Me Entertain You,’ including his own lyrics that are understandably related to food, warmth, and Christmas cheer.

The carrot and all of his mates then return for a bit of sing song while Kevin dons a top hat, and Russell looks on, knowingly.

The full ad is set to air for the first time on ITV tomorrow evening at 5.30pm, so if you’re only gasping for more Kevin content (and let’s be honest, you are), you know where to go.

“We’re all delighted to see Kevin back on our screens again, getting up to his usual tricks,” said John Curtin, group buying director of Aldi Ireland.

“Kevin’s popularity has grown steadily over the past three years, he’s becoming something of a festive season treasure! Kevin’s magical Big Top is the perfect environment to showcase the amazing quality of the Aldi Christmas range of food and drink this year.”

Indeed.
