Elf on a Shelf is coming to Netflix because parenting in 2020 just isn’t hard enough

Melissa Carton

If you wanted to know what 2020 was going to hit you with next…..

It’s not been an easy year.

The kids were out of school, we tried to home school, everything got cancelled, we currently can’t leave our counties and trick or treating is a no-go.

We’ve been good sports and we’ve soldiered on but this might be the thing that absolutely does me in.

If you haven’t already heard Elf on a Shelf is coming to Netflix.

That may not seem that big of a deal to non-parents but as parents we know what this means.

Elf on a Shelf on the telly, all day, on repeat, until 2021.

Now I was already looking forward to leaving 2020 behind but now I am absolutely counting down the days!

Netflix recently obtained the rights to develop content based on the Elf on a Shelf books and is currently in the process of producing live-action and animated content for Christmas 2020.

The streaming service announced it’s new collaboration with a poem;

“We’re thrilled to share stories of our North Pole friends, bringing tales from the region where joy never ends!

The Elf Pets, our pals, will join us, of course! You’ll get brand-new stories, straight from the source!

Our love for the world will be easy to see, you’ll soon hear us sing in Italian, Thai, and Hindi.

While we’re hard at work creating more stories and cheer, there’s two Elf Pets specials on Netflix this year!”

According to Deadline Netflix will develop live-action and animated content, taking aim at pre-school audiences, as well as for family audiences through both series and film.

As part of the deal, two of Lumistella’s (the owners of the brand) existing animated short films, Elf Pets: Santa’s Reindeer Rescue and Elf Pets: A Fox Cub’s Christmas Tale will be on Netflix in North America this holiday season.

By the looks of it come December there will be lots of Elf on a Shelf content and I behalf of parents everywhere I would just like to say to Netflix, whhhhyyy?
