Mum's advent calendar post is a prime example of how toddlers ruin everything
Is nothing sacred?
I already decided early on in November that we weren't doing advent calendars in our house this year.
Last year my youngest wasn't really aware of much but this year she is a full-blown toddler, throwing full blown toddler temper tantrums.
I know for a fact that there is no way I could give her one sweet from a calendar and then explain that it was only one a day without something drastic going down.
She's not one to negotiate.
Another mum learned the hard way that when it comes to advent calendars toddlers take no prisoners.
Posted on Family Days, we get a blow-by-blow account about how the whole festive related ordeal went down.
"The daily joys of Advent calendar allocation right there...
This is what our mornings will look like during December...
Me....‘You can only have one’
Toddler.... *Has a complete meltdown.
and repeat the process daily until all the windows have been opened unless they manage to sneakily get their hands on it and destroy it in the meantime....and then have daily meltdowns because they have no windows to open with everyone else.
Thank you Christmas."
Nope, I just couldn't deal with this on top of my two-year-old trying to open every present we attempt to put under the tree.
To be honest, I probably won't put the presents under the tree until Christmas Eve. I'll probably also only decorate the top half of the tree to prevent her from messing at it and pulling it down on top of herself.
Ah, the joys of being a parent to a toddler at Christmas.
