The original My Little Ponies are back and yes, we’re buying them for the kids

Yas!

Presents for the kids: designed to bring joy to them… and occasionally, also to us.

Case in point being the fact that My Little Ponies are being re-released.

And they’re not newfangled, revived, or altered in any way: they’re the original ones that a lot of us will remember from the Eighties and Nineties.

Which is a great incentive to buy some for our own small ones now.

The company behind the ponies – Basic Fun – is re-releasing the original, six-strong line-up to mark the 35th anniversary of the brand.

For those that need reminding, that’s: Minty, Blue Bell, Butterscotch, Snuzzle, Blossom, and Cotton Candy.

Ah, memories!

The only difference Eighties babies might note is that for 2018 their colours are a little brighter and their manes a little shiner.

The ponies also still come with a comb and a pretty ribbon.

Along with the originals, Rainbow Ponies are furthermore being brought back – those versions have a sweet smell and multi-coloured hair. Welcome Sunlight, Starshine, Windy, Parasol, Skydancer, and Cotton Candy.

Those won’t be available until August, but we reckon they’ll be well worth the wait.

Last Christmas, the most popular toys at Smyths included classics such as LEGO and Paw Patrol.
