Paloma Faith has said that she loves her child, but that motherhood is “hell.”

The British singer welcomed her first baby back in December 2016, but has since said that giving birth was one of the worst things she has ever experienced.

The mum-of-one has now admitted that motherhood hasn’t exactly been a walk in the park for her either, describing it as “lonely” and “hell.”

She told i newspaper:

“Don’t get me wrong, I love my child, but it’s hell.

“It doesn’t matter how much help you’ve got, no one can explain how lonely it feels at night when you’re waking up breast-feeding and you spend hours just wired on your own.”

Paloma and boyfriend Leyman Lahcine have decided to raise their child gender neutral, opting to keep the infant’s gender a secret.

31-year-old Leyman quit his job fashion interning job to become a full-time dad following the birth of his child.

Despite this, Paloma has said that parenting still comes with its trials and tribulations.

She said:

“You lose the will to live in a way, because your hormones are going mad and your husband is usually asleep snoring next to you. There’s so much resentment.”

The 36-year-old said that she had to end her maternity leave because she wasn’t making enough money to sustain a living.

“It was a combination of wanting to stay relevant but also generating an income,” she said.

“My accountant called me and said, ‘you need to think about earning some money now, because otherwise…’ I had a little panic.”
