Parent shares trick on how to get your child to take medicine and it’s genius

Melissa Carton

Trying to get a toddler to take medicine is no easy feat.

My two-year-old always runs a mile when I try to get her to take a spoonful of Calpol.

I know they come with the syringe dispenser now but they always end up getting lost after they’ve been washed.

In the end it always comes back to using a spoon which in turn comes back with trying to stand still for me while also trying to hold a bottle of Calpol threatening to spill it’s sticky contents on me at any given moment.

One parent has come up with a way to avoid the fight and I am all ears.

Parenting blogger Mummy Looks Funny shared her tip on how she gets her child to take their medicine and it’s genius;

My friend messaged me asking what it is that I do to get my kids to take medication if they’re sick. So I told her. She was mind blown.

What you do is;

1. Get your stinky medicine that your kid has been flat out refusing to take. Measure the required dose and put it on a spoon.

2. Grab some rainbow sprinkles. Dealers choice for the brand. I’m a high roller so we have tescos own make ?.

3. Sprinkle the sprinkles onto the spoonful of previously repulsive liquid.

BAM!

You now have yourself some delicious and magical unicorn potion ?

Works every time in this house!”

It’s such a simple solution and yet I’ve never thought of it before.

I really should have considering one of the Disney songs I often get stuck in my head on repeat is Mary Poppins ‘A Spoonful of Sugar Helps the Medicine Go Down.’

This is one trick that will definitely be going on my list of parenting hacks to try in the future
