Today is International Napping Day and we need to inform the toddlers

Melissa Carton

Today is International Napping Day and I think we need to put out a public service announcement.

Like, do the kids know? And if not, why not?

We need to get this sorted immediately because if there’s one thing I could do with my toddler taking today its a nap!

My toddler is what I like to call willful or you know incredibly stubborn. Even if she’s wrecked and her eyelids are almost hitting the floor she will not take a nap. If I manage to get her down for an afternoon nap at all she will only stay asleep for a hot minute and then she is up again like a Jack in a box.

Yesterday I thought I was great getting her down for a late nap because I wanted to have a little snooze myself. Her little mid-day nap turned into her sleeping till seven in the evening and then staying awake all night.

This needs to stop. We need to rally the troops and spread the word that naps are happening today in a big way.

No more mums falling asleep on the toilet. No more staring off into the distance while your tea goes cold because you forgot it was there. No more walking out of the house with your slippers still on.

No today the toddlers nap and we regain somewhat of our sanity back. Or at the very least, we will take their nap.
