If your toddler has cavities it might be down to how much toothpaste they use

Melissa Carton

This is very interesting.

A recent study has found that the amount of toothpaste that your child uses while brushing could directly correlate to when they develop cavities.

The study conducted by the Centers for Disease Control found that children using too much toothpaste were more likely to develop tooth decay.

The study, released last year, observed the brushing habits of 5,000 children aged between three and 15.

Results showed that approximately 40 per cent of children under the age of six use too much toothpaste when they brush.

Experts at the CDC have said that this can cause damage to a young child’s teeth as they are using more fluoride than is safe.

Dental experts went on to say that children who use too much fluoride as toddlers could see their teeth streaked or covered in splotches when they are adults.

Dentists recommend that children under the age of six use a half a pea-sized amount of children’s toothpaste when brushing their teeth.
