4-year-old girl killed in Sligo caravan park named locally

Alice Dunleavy will be laid to rest this morning.

The 4-year-old girl who was killed in a tragic accident in a Sligo caravan park has been named as Alice Kitty Dunleavy.

The young girl sadly passed away during a family holiday in Enniscrone on Friday, August 5th.

Alice  Dunleavy was originally from Ballina in Co. Mayo but was on holiday with her family in Sligo.

According to reports, the 4-year-old was hit by a vehicle at the caravan park.

Emergency services rushed her to University Hospital Sligo, but she was later pronounced dead.

Alice will be laid to rest this afternoon at St. Muredach’s Cathedral in Ballina.

She is survived by her heartbroken parents John and Ann Marie, and her sisters Rose and April.

Her death notice reads, “Tragically, at the age of 4, following an accident.

“Sadly, missed by her parents, sisters, grandparents, Aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives, and friends.”

Gardaí responded to the scene, but are treating the young girl’s death as a tragic accident.

They confirmed that the family is being offered support during this unthinkable time.

“A family liaison officer has been appointed to support the family at this time.”

Tributes have been pouring in since news of Alice’s tragic death emerged on Friday.

One mum wrote, “God help her parents. May the angels put her on their wings.”

Another added, “Thinking of ye all at this sad time after the loss of your beautiful girl.”
