Infant boy killed in tragic Roscommon accident named

21-month-old Brandon died on Friday.

A toddler who was killed in a tragic accident in Roscommon wandered away from the house without his family realising.

The 21-month-old boy sadly passed away after being hit by a car in Ballinagare. The infant has been named as Dublin boy Brandon Thomas Byrne. He was from Consilla.

His heartbroken parents had no idea their son got out of the house. He was hit by a jeep at 9 am on Friday morning.

Brandon’s parents were asleep at the time of the tragic accident.

Following the tragic accident, Garda confirmed there was no foul play suspected.

“Gardai and emergency services attended the scene of a fatal road traffic collision near Ballinagare in Co.Roscommon.”

“The collision occurred shortly after 9 am when a jeep collided with a male infant.”

“The infant received treatment at the scene but was later pronounced deceased.

Gardaí added, “No other injuries were reported.”

His family is currently being supported by a family liaison officer during this heartbreaking time.

Brandon will be laid to rest on August 23rd. His funeral is due to take place at the Church of St. Philip the Apostle, Mountview, Clonsilla.

Gardaí have asked witnesses to come forward. They’ve also called on anyone with video footage, including dash cam, to come forward immediately.
