Two people have been arrested in connection with the murder of a 9-year-old girl in Lincolnshire.

Last night, a 9-year-old girl was stabbed in the town centre in Boston.

The young girl tragically died from her injuries, police confirmed in a statement.

Police in Lincolnshire have since arrested two people in connection with her death.

Officers were called to the stabbing on Fountain Lane shortly after 6.20 pm yesterday evening.

They rushed to the scene but there was nothing they could do to help the young girl.

According to Metro, two people are in police custody.

Lincolnshire Police Chief Superintendent Kate Anderson stated:

“We have arrested two people in connection with the incident.

They are also pursuing extensive lines of inquiry.

“You will see more officers patrolling the area.

Specialist detectives are assisting with the investigation.

“We are not yet in a position to name the victim,” Chief Superintendent Anderson added.

The girl’s parents are currently being supported by specially trained officers.

“Their welfare and the welfare of those who she knew is a priority for us,” Anderson stressed.

“I can only imagine the grief and pain that they are going through.”

We’re keeping the young girl’s parents in our thoughts during this unbearable time.

Tributes have been pouring in for the young girl since her untimely passing. Locals have been laying flowers near the scene of the murder in Boston.

The local community is said to be in a great deal of shock following her senseless death.
