He was found safe and sound.

A missing 5-year-old boy has been reunited with his family after a major search operation in Co. Wexford.

The young boy and his family were enjoying a day out at Curracloe Beach before he went missing.

The alarm was raised shortly after 8 pm on Tuesday evening.

His mother realised she could no longer see her son and started to panic.

Luckily, Wexford RNLI was also on the beach on Tuesday night for training. The distressed mother approached the team and asked them to help her find her son.

At 8. 05 pm, the volunteer lifeboat crew launched a search operation.

Members of the public also helped the mother look for her son. Thankfully, he was found after 10 minutes, much to her relief.

It is believed the young boy was located at a nearby arcade.

The Wexford Lifeboat crew issued a short statement on Facebook after the search.

“Wexford Lifeboat crew alerted to a missing child as they arrived at Curracloe this evening at 20.05.

“They immediately alerted the Coast Guard and started a shoreline search while members of the public searched on land.”

“Curracloe Coast Guard Unit and Rescue 117 were also being tasked and an off-duty surf lifeguard also helped but all stood down when the child was found at 20.13.”

“If you see someone in difficulty on or near water ring 112/999 and ask for the Coast Guard.”

The public praised the team for helping find the young boy.

One woman wrote, “Every parent’s worse nightmare, minutes seem like hours. Thank God for a happy ending.”

Another added, “Great work by all and one relieved family tonight.”
