Tributes have been pouring in for 13-year-old Aisling Kennedy after she died in a freak accident.

The Co. Waterford girl was involved in a freak accident three months ago but died from her injuries on Tuesday night.

Aisling was hit by the wing mirror of a van after she stepped off her school bus in April.

The young girl was rushed to Waterford University Hospital and was later transferred to CHI Temple Street.

However, despite the doctors’ best efforts, the teenager died from her injuries on July 12th.

Presentation Secondary School in Clonmel led the tributes following news of Aisling’s death.

They remembered the ‘brave’ first-year student fondly.

“This morning we remember our First Year student Aisling Kennedy. We learned last night that Aisling had sadly passed to her eternal reward after a very brave battle with her injuries sustained from a traffic accident before Easter.

“Aisling was a very popular and vibrant member of our First Year group.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with her loving family during this difficult time.”

“All staff, students, and members of the Board of Management of Presentation Secondary School Clonmel are deeply saddened by this news.

“We want to express our sincere sympathy to Aisling’s family and friends. She will be missed dearly by all of us. May Aisling Rest In Peace.”

Ballymacarby Scouts also paid tribute to Aisling.

“It is with deep regret that we learned of the sad passing of Aisling Kennedy yesterday.

“The thoughts and prayers of her scout family are with her parents Tom & Louise, sisters Aoife & Eimear, the wider Boyle and Kennedy families, and her many, many friends. May she rest in peace.”
