American Idol star loses custody of newborn after son is taken away for abuse and neglect

“You have no heart. This is so wrong.”

American Idol’s Syesha Mercado has lost custody of her newborn daughter.

The news comes just five months after she lost custody of her 1-year-old son Amen’Ra.

The mum revealed the moment her baby girl was taken from her at a roadside safety check in Florida last week.

She posted the video of the incident on her Instagram and wrote, “THEY TOOK OUR BABY AGAIN!”

According to the Miami-Herald Tribune, the couple’s daughter was taken from them because authorities needed to take the 10-day old baby to hospital for a welfare check. The parents were presented with a court order, despite the parents stating they had taken her to the hospital on Tuesday.

The distressing video has been viewed over 2.8 million times.

The sheriff’s deputies told the couple that they had to surrender their daughter because they failed to inform the authorities that Mercado had given birth to another baby in the middle of her custody battle.

“My baby is days old, and you’re taking my baby away from me. You have no heart. This is so wrong,” Mercado says in the harrowing clip.

The reality star’s son was placed in foster care after the family visited Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg on February 26.

It is understood the parents were worried after Mercado’s breast milk dried and their son wasn’t getting enough liquids. However, allegations of malnutrition were made after their son’s hospital admission.

Authorities accused the couple of abuse and neglect.

Manatee County Sheriff’s Office told NBC News that the hospital child abuse line informed them that the couple’s son was severely malnourished.

However, Mercado dismissed these claims and said her children were happy and healthy.

She believes her family is victim of racial discrimination.

“They ripped me away from my proudest creation in life, pure joy, my SUNhine. We have a beyond ache & pain. These precious moments We’ll never be able to get back!” the mum said.

“I am not what has been written on paper. And my sun is not medically special and fragile. He was JUST weaning.”

Mercado added, “I mourn the loss of your physical presence everyday. I mourn the innocence STOLEN and the Light in your eyes they took away. I mourn the loss of our bond we shared before they ripped you away. My SUN the damage they have caused I can NEVER undo. My SUN I Never wanted to leave you. I never wanted to leave you Amen’Ra.”
