Andrew McGinley has launched a raffle in honour of his late son Darragh.

The father is hoping to raise funds for As Darragh Did, his charity that supports local sports clubs and community projects.

His son Darragh was a huge sports fan and was involved in numerous local sports clubs including St. Mary’s Saggart GAA Club.

The As Darragh Did raffle prizes includes: 4 tickets to a Daniel O’Donnell concert in the Newcastle Community Centre on June 2nd 2022.  Overnight accommodation in the Louis Fitzgerald Hotel on the night of the Concert.

The raffle also includes transport from the hotel to the concert and back to the hotel by Dualway Coaches and food from Sodexo and Derry Clarke.

McGinley told The Independent that Daniel O’Donnell is “thrilled” to be taking part in the concert that will honour Andrew’s three children.

“It’s the local hall with the local hotel, local chef, local transport company all rowing in behind me to do this and then my fellow Donegal man Daniel doing a few songs,” he told the publication.

The aim of the As Darragh Did charity is to encourage children to get involved in local community projects and clubs.

As Darragh Did also supports the camogie team at Dublin GAA club Ballyboden Wanderers.

Andrew confirmed his son Darragh would have made his Communion last week.

The dad wrote, “Darragh would have been scrubbing up for his communion today. He’d have been in it more for the money than the religion  Best wishes to his Scoil Chrónáin classmates today.”

The closing date is November 12th and the draw will take place on November 15th.

Andrew’s three children Conor, Darragh and Carla were tragically killed by their mother at their home in January 2020.
