Victim of Donegal car crash named as 17-year-old Charlotte Kelly

“Forever 17, our gorgeous girl”

The victim of a Donegal car crash has been named as 17-year-old Charlotte Kelly.

The teenager was involved in a car accident on May 1st but sadly died in hospital days after the accident.

Charlotte was rushed to Letterkenny University Hospital but was later transferred to Beaumont Hospital.

She died on the evening of May 9th.

The accident took place at Meenformal, Glen, Carraig Airt, Co. Donegal.

There was only one car involved in the collision, Gardaí confirmed.

Tributes have been paid to Charlotte who has been described as a “beautiful girl”.

Charlotte is survived by her parents, William and Kathleen, and her siblings.

Her boyfriend paid tribute to her in a moving post on Facebook.

He said she is now his guardian angel.

Another loved one wrote, “Charlotte, we love you. Forever 17, our gorgeous girl.”

The local Colm McDaid community page shared a heartbreaking tribute to the young girl.

“A beautiful young girl taken long before her time, now surrounded by her loving family members that have gone before her.

“This is a heartbreaking time for the Kelly family so I would ask you all to continue to keep them in your thoughts and prayers over the days, weeks and months ahead.

“To her young friends remember her in those happy times you had although short and always speak her name with a smile.”

Gardaí are still looking for witnesses of the collision to come forward.
