Was her daughter too young?

A mum has been called out for getting her daughter’s ears pierced when she was only a few hours old.

Her decision to pierce her newborn’s ears has divided opinions online.

Many said her daughter is far too young to have her ears pierced. However, others stressed that piercing your ears is harmless and something that isn’t going to cause health issues.

The mum posted a TikTok of her newborn wearing daisy earrings, which has now gone viral.

Millions have watched the clip and a debate has started in the comment section.

Alongside the video, the mum wrote;

“When your newborn was actually born adorable. Literally a few hours old.”

One mum slated her for piercing her baby’s ears because it puts her at risk of bleeding and infections.

However, many said they also had their ears pierced as babies and they’re perfectly fine now.

But what do the experts say?

The AAP advises waiting until your child is old enough to follow piercing aftercare themselves, but they don’t completely advise against piercing a baby’s ears.

Physicians say parents should also wait until their child gets their tetanus shots.

The AAP believes there is nothing wrong with piercing at any age once it is performed with “sterile equipment and techniques”.

If you do get your baby’s ears pierced then you must be diligent with the aftercare to prevent infection and to ensure the piercing heals properly.
