6-year-old boy dies in Co. Antrim accident

His father was also involved in the tragic accident but is in hospital.

A 6-year-old die has sadly died after an accident in Co. Antrim.

Ethan Michael McCourt from Toomebridge died on Saturday, June 25th.

His father Declan was also involved in the accident and is currently in hospital.

He is being treated in hospital, but his condition is not yet known.

Tributes have been pouring in for the young boy since his untimely passing.

He was described as a lovely boy who was “a great wee friend”.

Bellaghy Wolfe Tones GAC wrote:  “We are devastated to share the news that our underage player Ethan McCourt has sadly passed to his eternal rest following an accident earlier this week.

“Deepest condolences to his parents Oonagh & Declan & extended McKenna & McCourt, families. Ar dheis de go raibh a anam dilis.”

Ethan’s school also penned a moving tribute to the 6-year-old.

“You were such a great wee friend to all the boys and girls in P3!

“We pray for all the staff and children at Saint Mary’s Primary school and send heartfelt condolences to Oonagh, Bernard, Margaret, and all the McKenna and McCourt family!”

The circumstances around the tragic accident have not yet been disclosed.
