From September 2016 men in Ireland will be able to avail of 2 weeks of paternity leave as well as a new Paternity Benefit.

But Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is taking this right to new heights by announcing that he will take two months of leave when his daughter is born.

According to the CEO, the company allows US employees to take up to four months of paid parental leave which can be used all at once or throughout the baby’s first year.

Zuckerberg, who is expecting a baby girl with his wife Priscilla Chan, made the revelation on his Facebook page.

He explained: “This is a very personal decision, and I’ve decided to take 2 months of paternity leave when our daughter arrives.

“Studies show that when working parents take time to be with their newborns, outcomes are better for the children and families.”
