Mum horrified after son is attacked during GAA match

The incident happened at a GAA match in Thurles.

A mum has been left horrified after her 9-year-old son was attacked during a GAA match.

According to The Irish Mirror, a man attacked the young boy during a match in Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

The incident occurred on Saturday, October 15th.

Witnesses revealed that a man approached the boy during the hurling game. The man grabbed the young boy by the throat during the game.

The 9-year-old’s mother witnessed the horrifying assault and contacted emergency services immediately.

Gardaí were alerted and launched an investigation.

The young boy was taking part in an underage hurtling match on Saturday afternoon.

His injuries are not known at this time.

A source told the publication;

“The allegation is that the man walked onto the pitch during a game, confronted a nine-year-old.

“He then grabbed him by the throat.”

Gardai have reportedly identified a suspect after the incident at Dr. Morris Park, Thurles.

Gardaí were alerted shortly after 1 pm on October 15th.

They were contacted “following an incident of alleged assault at a sports event in Thurles.

“Enquires are ongoing,” the source confirmed.

Gardaí won’t be commenting further as “the incident involves young persons”.
