Tributes paid to mum-of-two who died in Cork river tragedy

Tributes have been paid to Cork mum-of-two Gillian Daly.

The mum tragically died when her car reversed into the River Lee over the weekend.

Gillian’s car plunged into the water at Kennedy Quay in Cork on Friday night.

The accident, which claimed the life of the mum, occurred at around 8.45 pm.

Gillian’s two sons managed to get out of the car, but were taken to hospital. They were treated for shock and were later released.

The boys and Gillian’s husband are heartbroken over her untimely death.

She has been remembered as a wonderful mother and devoted teacher.

Moving tributes have been paid since news of Gillian’s harrowing death broke over the weekend.

One person shared, “Gillian was a very special teaching colleague who had an inner glow of goodness.”

Another friend described Gillian as generous, caring, as well as loving.

Another said she will be remembered for leaving “bouquets of beautiful memories for all who knew and loved her.”

“Gillian was a beautiful person inside and out. May her kind and gentle soul rest in peace,” another shared.

One friend added, “I’ll always remember her radiant smile and great sense of humor, as well as the fun we had in college.”

Gillian is survived by her husband, sons, and her parents.

She will be laid to rest on Tuesday, June 8th. Her funeral service will be held at St. Patrick’s Church, Millstreet.
