Body found during search for missing man John Dunne

Mr. Dunne was an experienced climber.

A body has been found during the search for missing man John Dunne.

The search for Mr. Dunne has been stood down.

The body was found this morning, Friday, June 3rd.

An Garda Síochána has thanked the Kerry Mountain Rescue for their assistance.

They also thanked those who assisted with the search, the media, and the public for their assistance.

Drones and search dogs were also used to help find Mr. Dunne.

John Dunne

John was first reported missing on the afternoon of June 1st.

The 60-year-old was last seen in the Lisleibane area of Beaufort, County Kerry.

Before he went missing, John was reportedly hiking on a local mountain trail. He set out for the hike on Wednesday, June 1st.

The alarm was raised when he failed to return to the B&B he was staying in.

Gardaí confirmed that Mr. Dunne’s body will need to be recovered from its current location in the Macgillycuddy’s Reeks.

Kerry Search and Rescue will assist with the removal.

A formal identification will take place once his body is removed.

Mr. Dunne was an experienced climber.
