Knife-wielding man attacks teacher in West Cork

She was walking along a popular route when he took out a knife.

A teacher was attacked by a knife-wielding man in West Cork, Gardaí confirmed.

Gardaí launched an investigation after the woman was threatened in Skibbereen.

The incident took place shortly after 4 pm on March 29th.

Gardaí in West Cork have arrested a man in his 40s. He is currently in Garda custody.

The woman alerted police after the attack and the man was arrested and taken to Clonakilty Garda Station.

He is being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

It is believed the woman was out walking her dogs when they started to fight with the man’s dog.

She was walking along a popular and busy route.

The male dog owner started shouting at the woman and then took out a knife.

Luckily, the woman was not injured during the altercation, but she was badly shaken.

Her dogs started to bark at the man in an attempt to defend their owner. He then fled the scene and the woman called Gardaí on her mobile phone.

Members of the public also helped the woman when they noticed she was in trouble.

Gardaí are unsure whether or not the attack was an attempted robbery.
