Patricia Arquette got us feeling all empowered when she delivered a meaningful feminist speech at the 87th annual Academy Awards, which took place last night.
Winning an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Boyhood, the actress used her speech to make a plea for equal pay for women. Cheered on by Meryl Streep and Jennifer Lopez, she said, “To every woman who gave birth, to every taxpayer and citizen of this nation, we have fought for everybody else’s equal rights. It’s our time to have wage equality once and for all. And equal rights for women in the United States of America.”

Within moments of the speech being delivered there were tweets praising the actress, like this one from Emma Watson.

There were also wild cheers from the audience; in particular Meryl Streep and Jennifer Lopez, who were almost out of their seats with support. Just brilliant.
