A Coleen Rooney/Rebekah Vardy documentary is apparently in the works

It was only a matter of time, really.

Three years ago, Coleen Rooney broke the internet by posting a lengthy statement in which she claimed that Rebekah Vardy leaked her private stories to the press.

Coleen, who is married to Wayne Rooney, told her followers that she posted stories on her private Instagram, and adjusted the settings so that only Rebekah Vardy could see them.

She then alleged that she told fake stories on private, and these stories ended up being leaked to the press.

The incident, which has been dubbed ‘Wagatha Christie’ has led to a libel trial, due to take place this week, and now it looks like it’s getting the Netflix treatment.

A source told the Mail on Sunday that Coleen herself has signed the Netflix deal.

They said: “Coleen has done the clever thing and got in to tell her story before someone else muscles in.”

The source added: “The programme is most definitely going in the direction of Netflix. It will be classy, and speak from the heart.”

Rebekah Vardy, who is the wife of Leicester City footballer Jamie Vardy, has denied Coleen’s claims and is currently suing her for libel.

A preliminary hearing took place in November 2020, and there, Mr Justice Warby ruled in Vardy’s favour. Rooney was ordered to pay her almost £23,000 in court costs.

The trial begins tomorrow at the High Court in London. It is scheduled to last six days, and a judgment on the case is expected at a later date.

As well as speculation regarding a possible Netflix documentary, there are rumours that Vardy will sit down with Piers Morgan for an interview about the saga. A source told the Mail on Sunday: “While nothing has been signed yet the deal is as good as done. Piers is not going to let this go elsewhere. He is very much in pole position.”
