Tributes have been pouring in since The Times London announced the passing of the beloved actress.

“I am getting early word that Sally Ann Howes has passed away at the age of 91. I remember the cheerful songs and carefree silliness of Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang when I was a kid and saw it at the theater’s first run.” one fan wrote.

Another said, “Annual watch of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang will be bittersweet this year.”

“RIP Sally Ann Howes. Brilliant stage actress but there will always be a fond place in my heart for Truly Scrumptious,” another said.

Many families will be tuning into Chitty Chitty Bang Bang over the Christmas holidays, but it will indeed be bittersweet this year.

Sally Ann Howes will be fondly remembered for the famous Music Box scene.

She told Rosie O’Donnell in 1998, “It was the most difficult thing in the whole world. I really was very proud of it.

The actress added, “I did it on the set. I was a bit nervous about it, with about 150 extras [looking on].”

But despite her nerves, the actress managed to film the scene in just one take.

“They put me up on this box and off I went and nd I got it in one take!”
