At Home: Calls for urgent changes to Ireland’s childcare system

The Labour Party’s spokesperson for children Ivana Bacik has called on the Government to make urgent changes to the childcare system. She said the worsening issues in Ireland are a major concern.

She revealed in an interview with Newstalk that the Labour Party wants to “guarantee that every child in Ireland would have a place in early education.”

Mother of Baby John urged to come forward

Gardaí are urging the mother of Baby John to come forward.  Superintendent Flor Murphy told Radio Kerry: “We believe she has suffered loss and pain, and hurt, and grief, and I am appealing to her to come forward.

“She will be dealt with compassion and we understand the pain she has endured over the past 37 years,”

Covid: Ireland passed the peak of the Delta wave as numbers continue to fall

NPHET believes Ireland has passed the peak of the Delta wave. Professor Philip Nolan stated that it looks like Ireland is just past the peak of infection.

He added that case numbers should decline “from here on in”.

World: Irishman sentenced to 27 years in jail over child abuse images

Irishman Eric Eoin Marques has been sentenced to 27 years in jail after conspiring to advertise child abuse images.

It is believed he is the biggest facilitator of child abuse imagery in the world.

He will return to Ireland after serving his 27-year sentence, but the judge warned that “no child in the world is safe” wherever Marques lives.

Celebrity: Angela Scanlon gives an update after four-car crash

TV presenter Angela Scanlon has reassured fans that she is okay after she was involved in a four-car crash.

“I’m absolutely fine. There was a car accident yesterday. I was in it and it looked pretty bad.”

She stressed that nobody was hurt, but she did have to go to hospital as a “precaution”.
