At Home: Gardaí issue public appeal after woman is attacked in Cork park

Gardaí have issued a public appeal after a woman in her 50s was attacked in a Cork park.

Gardaí confirmed a woman was walking her dog in St. Coleman’s Park, Fermoy when she was assaulted by a male.

The woman sustained numerous injuries, but they are not thought to be life-threatening.

It is believed the suspect was also injured after the attempted robbery.

He then fled the scene.

The attack occurred at 6.40 pm.

Anyone who was in St. Coleman’s Park and the surrounding areas between 6. 15 pm and 7 pm on November 8th has been asked to contact Gardaí.

The public has also been asked to contact Gardaí if they see or know a man with unexplained injuries to the face and neck.

Covid: Pubs and restaurants not following Covid rules should be closed down, hospitality bosses say

There have been calls for pubs and restaurants not following Covid rules to be closed.

Hospitality bosses say it is unfair to keep establishments open that are failing to comply with Covid-19 measures.

A source told the Irish Mirror, “They need to shut these guys down if they are not complying.

“The guards were inspecting €9 meals last year, they’re not doing anything this year. Environmental health officers can shut a premises down if they see rat droppings, why isn’t it happening if Covid certs aren’t being inspected?”

“We’re doing our bloody best and there were no real sanctions for all of this.”

Antigen tests will be used in schools in a bid to prevent Christmas lockdown

An Taoiseach says antigen tests are set to be used in a bid to identify Covid cases in schools.

He said this could be introduced in a bid to prevent a Christmas lockdown.

Concerns have been raised about the lack of contact tracing and testing in schools.

It is believed Covid infections are highest in the 5-12 cohort.

“The important thing is that the European Centre for Disease Control (ECDC) suggested that in specific circumstances within  schools – and I have spoken to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) – that antigen testing may be used,” he stressed.

World: 10-year-old boy dies after dog attack in Wales

A 10-year-old boy has tragically died after a dog attack in Wales.

The incident occurred at a home in Pentwyn, Penyrhoel on Monday afternoon.

Paramedics rushed to the scene but were unable to save the boy.

The dog has been put down.

Police in Wales say a full investigation is underway.

“Officers will be making further enquiries at this time and will remain at the scene as the investigation progresses.”

Celebrity: Rachel Riley and Pasha Kovalev welcome a baby girl

Countdown’s Rachel Riley and former Strictly dancer Pasha Kovalev have welcomed their second child together.

Riley gave birth to a beautiful baby girl.

The doting parents confirmed the news on Instagram.

The mum-of-two revealed they called their daughter Noa.

“Baby Noa was finally born, 15 days after her due date, late on Friday night to the sound of fireworks!”

Rachel and Pasha are also parents to daughter Maven.
