Man objects to kids sitting in shopping trolleys “where food has to go” – what do you think?

Do you think he has a point?

One rather disgruntled man has called for children to be banned from sitting in supermarket trolleys.

He wrote in the Overheard in Aldi group: “Kids inside trolleys where food has to go really annoys the hell out of me.

“Anyone else thinks stores should ban this practice and approach the culprits?”

Mums were quick to shut down his comments.

One wrote: “I have a 2 and 3-year-old. Unless the 2-seater trolleys are available, my eldest is going in the trolley. Unless you want parents walking through the aisles at 2 miles an hour and kids running everywhere.”

Another joked: “It’s like a rite of passage for children. The bigger the trolley, the more kids can fit in. My record is 11 kids.”

One woman agreed with the man’s remarks: “Don’t mind kids sitting in the actual seat where they are supposed to, it’s when they are in the actual trolly I don’t think is right, dirty germ-ridden shoes and hands where we put our foodstuff.”

“These days kitchen roll and sanitiser are provided at supermarket doors, instead of whinging why doesn’t he just give his trolley a wipe down before use,” one suggested.

One mum suggested that the supermarkets need to provide better trolleys for parents.

She explained that trolleys for parents should be in a separate area.

“When they are mixed in with the normal trolleys people without kids use them and people like myself get stuck with 2 toddlers and a single trolly so one has to sit in the basket bit.”

As one mum perfectly pointed out, putting the kids in the trolley also eases the worry of them wandering off or getting hurt.
