Amanda Seyfried reveals ‘good advice’ she used introducing her dog to her baby

Keeley Ryan

She gave birth to her daughter last March.

Amanda Seyfried has shared the “good advice” she used when it came time to introduce her dog to her then-newborn daughter.

The Mamma Mia! actress welcomed a baby girl with her husband, Thomas Sadoski, last March  – and the pair wanted to be very careful how they introduced her to their rescue dog, 8-year-old Finn.

So, in an effort to make the transition as easy as possible, the actress decided to follow some “really good advice” she got from a friend.

She explained to PEOPLE:

“You just take the hat home from the hospital, the one that they put on the baby after it’s born, and then you bring the hat home for like a day or two before the baby comes home and you just leave it by the dog and let him sniff it.

“It was the best we could do. It was hard. It’s an interesting transition for everybody but it worked.”

HAPPY #nationalpetday EVERYONE!

A little more than a year afterwards, the couple’s daughter and Finn are getting closer and closer every day.

On their relationship, Seyfried continued:

“He still won’t play with her, which is absolutely fine because he’s big and she’s tiny.

“We taught her ‘gentle’ since she was born and she always goes over and pats him, and she looks over at us, and pats him more.  And he lets her and sometimes he rolls over.”
