Lea Michelle has said that she worries having a baby would “mess up” her career.

The former Glee star said that she would like to start a family in the future, but right now, she feels like her acting career would suffer if she became a mother.

She explained to Us Weekly:

“I’m still playing roles that are under 21, so I kind of want to push that as long as I can. Having a baby might mess that up for me,” she said.

Lea said that her desire to start a family comes from growing up in a large Italian family herself.

She admitted that she “100 percent” plans on having at least one child in the future. “I come from a very large Italian family,” she said, “so that’s very important to me.”

Lea played the lead role of high school student Rachel Berry in Glee for six years.

She then went on to play a college student in Screen Queens. She has also starred on broadway.

The actor recently got engaged to fashion executive Zandy Reich, and the two have been fairly busy planning their wedding… even if they can’t really decide where to have it.

“One day we want to get married in Hawaii, the next day we want to get married in the Hamptons.

“We’ll see where we land. I think we should just put a pin somewhere in the United States and tell everybody to just show up.”
