A Brilliant Boobie Smoothie For Lactating Mamas

Sive O'Brien

Chance are if you’ve clicked in, you’re a breastfeeding mama right now. And you’ve heard all the different ways to increase your milk supply, but you’re so tired, and you’re feeding constantly, and probably pumping too to get supply up (after 4 weeks) but it’s hard to remember all the tips, right?

Well, this little genius recipe we found (and tested!) on a cutesy blog called The Mommy Way actually tastes really good AND helps get those boobies lactating like there’s no tomorrow. And who doesn’t want more milk, and the possibility of cutting down on feeding times, right?

The key ingredients here really boost your supply, oats, flax seed and peanut butter. Brewer’s yeast tabs also help with breast milk production, but they have a strong flavour, so test a few different measurements so make sure it’s still palatable for you.

Get someone to make one of these for you:

You’ll need

1 cup milk

1 frozen banana

1/2 cup of oats

2 tbs ground flax seed

2 tbs peanut butter or almond butter

1 tbs cocoa or raw cacao powder (this is just for flavour so not necessary)

Optional breast milk booster: 3 Brewer’s yeast tabs

Blend all of these items together until smooth. You may need to add a few ice cubes and some extra milk to get the right consistency.

This should boost your supply within 12 – 24 hours. Results are dependent on the person.

Let us know how you get on or if you have any tips that helped your supply. Remember, one of your tips might really help another mum.
