Fancy getting your children involved in something that encourages them to think about others and to do good?

Now’s your chance.

The Big Toddle for Barnardos is a fun sponsored walk for toddlers where children themselves have the opportunity to help create positive change for disadvantaged children in Ireland.

Sponsored by Toddlebox, the Big Toddle for Barnardos is a fun half mile sponsored walk for crèche and pre-school  aged children, and now in its 15th year, the annual event has seen more than 350,000 children from crèches, Montessori’s, childcare groups, junior schools and families around the country take part since the first Big Toddle way back in 2004.

Toddling more than a combined 1.1billion steps (a distance that is nearly that of three round-trips to the moon and back), the Irish children (and their families and childcare providers) have managed to raise an incredible €3.7million in support support of Barnardos Early Years services – and work that focuses on some of the youngest and most vulnerable children we work with ensuring that they get the best start in life.

If you fancy signing your own tots up, here is where you can register now.

Once you have registered, you’ll recieve a Big Toddle Pack full of everything you need to organise your own Big Toddle, including stickers, hats, make-your-own-masks and a fun colouring competition for each child in your group. And a handy ‘How To’ guide, posters and more for the group leader.

Oh, and did we mention this year, Barnados are hosting ‘Toddling with Teddy’ – asking children to bring their teddybears or other soft toys along to join in the fun.

The toddle must take place between May and June this year, but you and your own children can choose when and where you’ll do the walk – parks are a popular chioce, beaches and nature walks both great too.

Once you have complited the ‘toddle,’ you are encouraged to share pictures from you day to try to get others interested – and you can also read about how what you did will make a huge difference.

And it could not bea easier to put together:

Once you’ve held your Big Toddle and returned your fundraising, Barnados will send you a special Big Toddle Certificate for your group, and it’s also worth mentioning that the Toddle Team are on hand to support every step of the way.  All you have to do is relex and join the fun.
