"Would I prefer not to take something? Absolutely."

Chrissy Teigen has spoken out about treating her post-natal depression with medication.

The model, known for her honesty, admitted earlier this year that she had struggled with the illness after giving birth to daughter Luna last year.

She delved further into the topics at Los Angeles BeautyCon over the weekend during a discussion with a number of beauty influencers, admitting that anti-depressant Lexapro  has given her relief.

“Would I prefer not to take something? Absolutely,” she said, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“But it works for me … I have such a great life. There’s no way I could possibly be sad. I have everything I want.

“But it can happen to anybody. When you’re in that hole, you feel like you’ll never be out of that hole. You can’t even ever imagine being happy again. And I’m very happy again!”

Chrissy first admitted that she had suffered with postnatal depression in an open letter in Glamour magazine, writing that for a long time she couldn’t understand what was ‘wrong.’

“I had everything I needed to be happy. And yet, for much of the last year, I felt unhappy,” she wrote in an essay for Glamour earlier this year.

“Most days were spent on the exact same spot on the couch and rarely would I muster up the energy to make it upstairs for bed.”
