This creche makes families dinners to take home – for just €3 a day

Trine Jensen-Burke

If you have ever had to drag tired, cranky children through your local Tesco or M&S, frantically trying to find something to cook for dinner that basically takes zero time to prepare (yet is also healthy), you will no doubt weep at this genius idea.

At creche franchise Learn and Laugh in Sydney, Australia,  they now offer home-cooked meals for families to take home when they come to collect their kids in the afternoons – for a measly $5 (approximately €3) a pop.

Seriously – €3 for a ready-made, home-cooked dinner – can you imagine just how amazing this would be?!

“Being a working parent myself, I understand firsthand how tiring it is to finish a day of work and then go home to prepare a meal for the kids, not to mention all the other tasks that need to get done like helping with homework, reading to the kids etc,” co-Founder of Learn and Laugh, Lilach Weininger, explained to Kidspot.com.

“At Learn and Laugh we’re always looking for ways to make our parents life easier and the dinner initiative was an obvious solution.”

According to the Learn and Laugh website, ” most families will take one or two boxes of freshly cooked food when they pick up their children. The meals prepared for dinner are the children’s favourites and are different to what they ate for lunch.”

Examples include family-friendly hits like chicken stir fry with rice and spaghetti Bolognese.

Speaking to Kidspot, one mum explains why she loved the takeaway dinner option:

“We absolutely love the dinner service. The bolognese is delicious and it’s such a relief to not have to worry about dinner after a long day at work and daycare. I have mentioned it to my friends, whose children are also at daycare, and they wish it was available for them.”
