Of over nine thousand sleep-related infant deaths – 13 per cent happened on the couch – and most in babies who were under three months old.
Risk factors in those babies who died were because they were sleeping with another person on the couch or were placed face-down or on their side. The current advice is to place your child lying on their back in an accessory-free cot.
