Garden activities to keep the kids busy and cool today

"Mum, I'm BORED."

Sharyn Hayden

It’s set to be another lovely day today, so let’s embrace the summer for all it’s worth, guys.

The thing is, as many of us discovered during those blissful heatwave days earlier this month, entertaining kids when the weather is hot and sticky can be a little, ehm, challenging, no?

My kids have been hooshed out to the garden for breakfast, lunch, dinner and every activity in between.

We have watered every single flower and tree.

We have dragged out beanbags and colouring books and sat on the wall eating ice cream.

We have even had a few water flights (my two-year-old daughter is a mean badass with the hose in her hands).

But… then what? When the thoughts of piling our hot and wilting asses into the car for a trip to the beach or playdate seems like too much hassle, what can we do with the kids during the heatwave to keep them entertained at home?

Well, how about some ice games?

Elle from What’s Up Moms in LA has some really brilliant tips that we’d love to try – they might take a little bit of time to organise but are cheap to do and will keep the kids occupied for ages so WIN-WIN!

Would you try these with your kids or got any others to share? We’d love to hear from you so get in touch in the comments on Facebook.
