Why is it always a rush?

No matter how prepared we think we might be, getting out of the house on time is still always a struggle.

Between a dirty nappy or a missing shoe, something always seems to crop up that completely throws our schedule off course (who were we trying to kid with a schedule?).

If you’re finding it hard to get ready on time then look no further. We have pooled our collective knowledge to come up with our top tips for getting ready in a hurry.

Ready, set, go…

Be realistic with your time

Can you really get yourself and the kids dressed and out the door in under an hour? Think about how long your morning routine will realistically take and set your alarm accordingly. Trust us, it works.

Plan your outfits the night before

And the kids’ outfits too. There is nothing worse than having to empty out the entire contents of your wardrobe just to find that one top you need. Leave your outfit either hanging up in your wardrobe or draped over a chair for a quick change in the morning.

Make lunch in the pm

Get into the habit of making everyone’s lunch straight after dinner. It might sound like a complete pain, but your future self will thank you for those extra five minutes in bed in the morning.

Always put the car keys back in their bowl

How many times have you been late thanks to those pesky car keys? Keep them in one place and you won’t have to turn the house upside down looking for them.

Have two failsafe outfits

One casual and one dressy tucked away in your wardrobe. These will be outfits that are stylish, comfortable and can be pulled out if you’re having a clothes nightmare and need something to throw on in a hurry.

Get knotty

Unless you wake up with miraculously gorgeous hair every morning (Ha! as if) then you are going to need your top knots, ponytails and buns. Keep a stash of hair bobbles, dry shampoo and hairspray at hand to finish off the look.
