The heartbreaking reason Katie Piper uses a fake profile online

The mum-of-two made the admission during an appearance on a parenting podcast this week.

For those of you that have dabbled in the world of parenting forums, you might be well-aware of how nasty some of them can get. Yes, unfortunately, the places where many go to seek advice and help with some of their parenting concerns can become riddled with trolls and negativity.

It’s for that reason that Katie Piper has set up fake social media accounts to access information without the risk of being publicly shamed.

Yes, the mum-of-two says that past experiences of being criticised online have left her cautious and afraid to seek advice from other parents publicly.

“I have an anonymous name which I’m not sharing,” the star told the First Time Dads podcast.

“I was quite naïve with my first child because I hadn’t realised how vicious and nasty it can be.

“Just from posting on my own Instagram I realised how passionate people get and I get it that it’s the most important job we are going to do so we should try and get it right. But they are all just opinions, there is no wrong and there is no right.”

Katie welcomed her first child, Bella, in 2014 and welcomed her second daughter, Penelope, just before Christmas.

The mum has since set up fake social media accounts so to ask honest questions without the fear of being criticised or shamed.

“We all have to use social media carefully and if you don’t like what I post, don’t follow me.

“But some people seem to lurk just to antagonise.”
